For 2019, KTM overhauled the 690 Enduro R with a new aesthetic, upgraded engine, electronic rider aids, improved suspension, more fuel capacity, and a chassis that enables a more rider-friendly seat height. As noted in our earlier āKey Updatesā article, when the new 690 was announced, it seems that KTM is progressively making this enduro
The 690 has plenty of power on and off road but will get tiresome at motorway speed after a while. The exc range are just not made for mileage (yes they will and can do it but at greater risk of failure/fatigue than the 690). So if you need to do big miles at speed get a 950/990.
Having been the go-to dual-sport machine for many years, the KTM 690 ENDURO R receives updated aesthetics for 2023, taking its styling cues from the competition-Enduro range. Now an even more astute enduro weapon, the KTM 690 ENDURO R offers no compromises when tackling hard enduro-type terrain and easy fast-flowing trails. Not to be outdone
This particular 690 Enduro is tuned by Solid Performance. The Good: Whether this bike is taking on highway blasts, cutting up single tracks and fire trails or wading through deep sand pits, itās incredibly balanced. Power and torque seem endless, and thereās always enough twist no matter where you are in the rev range.
I don't know about the DRZ fuel range but with 16/45 sprockets (stock is 15/45). I got about 140 miles per tank at 75-95 mph speeds. It was pretty constant at 5L per 100km, about 47 mpg. I strapped a wedco 1.25 gal tank on my aftermarket ramp for extra range. It has a 12L tank.
Thatās an impossible dream, but the KTM 690 Enduro R ($13,499 MSRP) gets a lot closer than any Japanese bikeāits only real competition comes from in-house, and itās hardly a fair fight. I had a KTM 690 Enduro R for a month this summer, with opportunity to take it on a wide range of terrain all over Atlantic Canada.
P.S On another note (exhaust) i can advise that KTM posess only 2 IGNITION MAPS for the KTM 690 ENDURO. One is the standard for the shop exhaust ( which owes me 6 t-shirts, an expensive bag and about 250mm of blistered skin.) and the other for the Akrapovitch .
When comparing STOCK maps, the difference between my 13' 990 and 14' 690 is incredible. Makes me want to kick my 990 to the curb. 3) The 2014 and newer 690s are ride by wire throttle and a dual spark motor, similarly found in the 690 duke. 4) Maps from 2013 and older 690s are completely different than 2014 and newer.
